Yair Benjamini

Yair, whose legal practice primarily focuses on tax laws, is the head of our law firm's tax and private clients department.
Practice focus
Yair has more than 15 years of experience in the field of tax laws, during which he has accumulated extensive legal knowledge and vast experience in all the aspects of the Israeli tax laws, as well as in a wide variety of complex issues pertaining to international taxation.
Among his other practices, Yair provides services to Israeli corporations and individuals who conduct investments outside of Israel – including at the United States, Eastern Europe, Western Europe and Africa; companies engaged in the fields if IT, forex or finance, which operate abroad; Israel hi-tech and bio-tech companies.
Yair serves as legal advisor to some of Israel's top accounting firms and provides legal advice in all matters pertaining to the tax issues faced by their clients, including preparation of expert opinions, legal support for assessment proceeding vis-à-vis the tax authorities and representation of clients before the courts of law. In addition, he provides legal advice on matters related to taxation of partnerships and intergenerational transfer of capital. In recent years, Yair provided legal consultation on voluntary disclosure of foreign accounts proceedings, while representing his clients before the tax authorities in various countries, and advised families on matters related to the amendments introduced to trust laws.
Yair accumulated a particularly vast experience in the field of equity-based compensation to employees (options, shares and other instruments) and he provides legal advice, on a regular basis, to multi-national corporations in regard with their employees' compensation strategies in Israel. In addition, Yair regularly represents many clients before the District Courts, various tax authorities, land taxation committees and the Israeli Supreme Court, following which has been consequently credited with legal precedents in the field of Israeli tax laws on account of his work.
Experience
Yair began his career as an intern at the chamber of the reputed tax judge Bracha Ofir-Tom at the Tel Aviv District Court. Yair later joined the tax departments at Yigal Arnon & co., and then Epstein Rosenblum Maoz (ERM) law firms.
Yair is on high demand as a speaker in various professional forums, alongside him being a member and a resident lecturer at the Global Equity Organization.

Sagiv's area of expertise is the Israeli real-estate taxation. Sagiv diverse practice encompasses income tax, real estate tax, VAT and Encouragement Laws.
Sagiv has vast experience in representing clients in all tax matters, including real estate taxation, VAT and Encouragement Laws and has considerable experience in handling complex M&A, financing and capital markets transactions.

 Practice focus
Hila's practice focuses on international and domestic corporate law, dealing primarily with such issues as income tax structuring, control and management, withholding taxes, intercompany financing models, transfer pricing, global employee mobility, domestic and international VAT and permanent establishment issues.

Experience
Prior to Yair Benjamini Law Offices, Hila was the global tax manager of Ness Technologies, a global company with operations in more than ten countries. In that capacity, she advised with respect to all global tax aspects of the ongoing operations of Ness, including tax provisions (FIN 48), review of global tax returns, VAT, transfer pricing and additional issues.
Hila is a certified charted accountant. Her job experience includes her past practice in EY Israel, specializing in international and U.S. taxation, and at the Israeli law firm Meitar Liquornik Geva & Leshem Brandwein.

Sarah Leevan – Maman

Practice focus
Sarah's areas of practice focus on Israeli and international tax, including tax structures, aspects of management and control and permanent establishments, value-added tax, tax returns for nonresident aliens and compensation plans to employees who are entitled to tax benefits, with specific expertise in the seam line between tax liabilities in Israel and in the U.S.
Sarah advises international funds and corporations on the tax aspects that apply to their operations in Israel. In addition, she advises Israeli firms with respect to their investments outside of Israel, and in particular on real-estate investments in the U.S.
Sarah assists private clients, including newcomers and senior returning residents, in optimizing their global tax liability. In addition, Sarah has special expertise in equity instruments awarding plans granted to employees, and she has been assisting decision-making on tax issues with international corporations that employ Israeli employees, in connection with the purchase and conversion of shares, re-pricing of stock options and shares, representation before the trustee and relocation issues.
Experience
Prior to her coming to Israel, Sarah worked as an attorney at the legal department of the U.S. federal tax authority. Sarah was in charge of major liquidation and bankruptcy cases, while focusing on the interface between the American tax laws and bankruptcy laws. She had also represented the tax authorities before the United States Tax Court.

Practice focus
Dolev specializes in the various tax fields, including personal taxation and corporation taxation, foreign and returning resident/new immigrant tax, real estate taxation, and VAT.
In his work, Dolev represents the firm's clients in legal proceedings, in writing complex legal opinions and providing ongoing consulting to the firm's client.
Dolev also has experience as an instructor's assistant in various tax courses offered by the Faculty of Accounting at the College of Management and Faculty of Accounting at the College of Law & Business, and was co-author of professional articles on taxes.
Experience
Prior to Yair Benjamini Law Offices, Dolev worked as an associate at few of the leading Israeli law firm offices specializing in tax law. During this time Dolev engages in tax litigation and represented clients in legal proceedings vis-à-vis the tax authorities and represented taxpayers before the tax authorities in assessment meetings and guides transactions and requests to obtain pre-rulings from the tax authorities on the tax aspects of the transactions.

Doron Elmekiesse, CPA (Jurist)

Doron Elmekiesse is a certified public accountant and a jurist, specializing in Israeli taxes and taxation of trusts.

Doron worked for seven years at the Israeli Tax Authority as an inspector and coordinator of the Companies and Trusts Squad at the Tel Aviv 1 Assessing Officer.

During his work for the Israeli Tax Authority, Doron accumulated extensive experience in treating tax files of individuals, companies and trusts, with an emphasis on various issues of international taxation with an effect on Israeli income tax liabilities.

Doron took part in various committees of the Israeli Tax Authority that discussed legislation revisions in the field of trusts and led the Assessing Officer’s treatment of large-scale and complex trust taxation cases.

Doron won the Israeli Tax Authority’s quiz on income tax.

Doron joined the ranks of our law firm in December 2016 and since, he has been involved in the following areas of practice: tax assessment hearings in the fields of income tax and value added tax; legal opinions on income tax issues; ongoing counseling on all aspects of income tax for individuals and companies; ongoing counseling on the creation of multi-national structures; ongoing counseling on taxation of trusts with a connection to Israel and more.

Doron spent several years serving as a teaching assistant and lecturer on the entire spectrum of income tax studies at the Bar Ilan University, The College of Management Academic Studies and Sha’arei Mishpat College, and is the author of several articles on taxation, which were published in financial magazines.

Doron has a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Accounting, LL.B. in law and M.A. in legal studies.
